She has been working at the Chamber of Deputies’ Library since 1983. After seven years of cataloguing, she has been responsible for the Operating Inventory and Conservation for ten years. She took part
in the study for the digitalization of the collection of the Italian Parliament’s acts. From 2001 to 2005 she was responsible for the operative Unit of Digital and special Materials. Furthermore, she dealt with preliminary investigation activity for what concerns the purchase of electronic resources and the study of the standards of electronic documents. She also contributed to the elaboration and to the implementation of digitalization and preservation of the digital heritage projects. Since 2006, she has been working, once again, on the activities associated with book heritage preservation and ancient funds valorisation. She is author-publisher of essays which are published on several specialized revues and in proceedings of conferences.
Maria Giovanna Rak
She is responsible for the office of preservation of the BNC (Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma).
She is also a member of the subcommittee 10 (Physical Characteristic of the information supports and documents) of UNI and of the subcommittee of ISO. Besides, she attended the drafting of the 11800 ISO law, which concerned the standards of the editorial tying and the 14416 ISO law about the tying for archives and libraries. She executed activities of formation in the preservation area through seminars, which are aimed to public servants. She also published essays based on various arguments, such as restoration principles, book shapes and press.
