Monographies

The National Central Library of Rome heritage increased since 1875, year of its institution, through three channels of access: legal deposit, purchases and gifts .

The acquisition of many librarian funds, owned by eminent personage of culture - first of all Ruggero Bonghi -  increased the Library's heritage with prestigious collections, sometimes unique.

One of the most significant acquisitions of the last decades is the one related to Enrico Falqui's library, that together with a specific politic purchase on rare and precious editions, autographical documents  and literary archives, gave to the Library a particularly rich documentation about Italian 20th century literature.

The reading rooms were born immediately after the Library's relocation to the current site (1975), constitute the central core of collections development.

At the moment, the Library owns more of 6 millions volumes.

Audio-visual and multimedia heritage increases constantly.

General card catalogue and on-line catalogue can be consulted at the Catalogue Area and they are at disposal of the public. On-line catalogue can also be consulted in the reading rooms.
