Card catalogues
Alphabetical catalogue for authors and anonymous works titles
Paper catalogue includes, ordered in an unique alphabetical series, all the cards dealing with printed monographic publications owned by the Library (editions from 1468 to 1990), and they amount to 2.000.000 cards.
In particular it contains the cards dealing with the works brought to the Library after the abolition of religious corporations, established by the law of 19th June 1873; cards about works published in Italy from 1886 to 1989, that reached the Library thanks to the compulsory deposit law of printed works and cards dealing with owned foreign publications and to works purchased and given as donations, until 1987.
Alphabetical catalogue by subjects
The catalog is alphabetically ordered by subject entry and is chronologically divided into two series: 1925-1957 and 1958-1989.
Systematic Catalog
The catalog is chronologically organized by subject into two series: 1920-1970 and 1970-1990.
The first set is based on the second French edition (1927-1935) of the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), while the second set is based on the New French edition of Universal Decimal Classification and subsequent editions in English by the CNR.
For publications acquired after 1990, it is possible to make a research through the online catalogue, using the Dewey Decimal Classification system.
In the central area of the gallery, periodicals card catalogues can be consulted, now closed and fully placed in the Opac of NCLR.
